Together…! Save the Sumatran Tiger”

A typical tour of duty with an Anti Poaching team
By David S Gill, Chairman, The Sumatran Tiger Trust.

Another very long day walking fast through dense forest and grassland. The team makes a new camp a whole day's trek from the last. We setup camp in a placed named Air Hitam, which means Black Water.
This is the water it was named after in a dark, dense part of the jungle of trees.
Once again no protection from the forests dangers and inhabitants. Salt is shaken around the makeshift shelter to try and stop very large pythons from sneaking in and taking a large supper.....us! The dark falls and the noise is tremendous as the insects shout to each other songs through the still air and frogs sing harmoniously. Close by, the roar of a tiger silences the forest, reminding everyone who the king is in this wild habitat we are so vulnerable in.
